The palace was built on commission by Fermo noble Girolamo Rosati on a project by pontifical architect Antonio da Sangallo the Younger (around 1532): inside it still has the coat of arms of the Azzolino family who subsequently acquired the property.

Legend has it that Queen Christina of Sweden was hosted here as she was friend and confidant of Cardinal Decio Azzolino Junior. Inside the courtyard there is a well from which you can still see the ancient cistern for collecting water.
